Medicines, Food, Stationeries
Before you arrive it might be necessary to get a supply of medications you might need, some food you can’t live without (and might not be available in Germany) and even some things you need for studying like pens, paper and of course your laptop.
If you need special medicine, take it with you! In some cases, you might need a doctor’s presciption to prove you need it at the customs office. In case you need non-prescription medication, you can always head to your nearest pharmacy or drugstores like Rossmann, DM and Müller. Do note that some food and stationeries can also be found there.
For groceries, the most common supermarkets in Germany are Rewe, Edeka, Lidl and Aldi. Bakeries are also easy to find no matter where you live. If you are searching for foreign or Asian food, there are many supermarkets or shops selling those as well in Munich. If you are on a budget, there’s an APP called To Good To Go which allows you to buy food at a cheaper price, do check it out!
Lastly, don’t bring too much with you. In Germany you can buy almost everything or some kind of substitute. Some special foods however might not be available or will be expensive.
