Restrict Access
With the access restriction* you can decide whether the map should be publicly accessible or whether only a certain user group with password protection can access it. To set access, select the tool for access restriction in the toolbar on the left-hand side under the web settings. There, you can select up to three options for restricting access. You can also set additional options for increased access protection for maps with restricted access.
- 1. Access restrictions
-
The access restrictions always refer to the live map. There are up to three possible access restrictions:
Publicly accessible
With this option, the live map is accessible to anyone who knows the link to the map. All content is indexed by search engines and can therefore also be found via a web search.
Access after registration
With this option you can release a certain number of articles before users of the map have to register. This means that your map is generally open to the public, but people who view the map will receive registration information after you have released a certain number of articles. In this window, users can either register for free or log in. After registration or login, all content is unlocked.
As soon as you have selected this option as an access restriction, the form expands to include advanced setting options. Define the amount of free articles, create your own text for the login and registration window. Also define the text for the consent form and whether the consent is already activated or whether users have to set it to active.
If you have selected this access restriction option, your map will only be found in a web search via the map description in the SEO settings. The contents of the map will not be indexed in this case.
Restricted access
Select this option if the map and its contents should be protected and only certain people should have access. Access can be granted via a password. For this purpose, you can create a guest account for each user in the user administration. With this access, only the live map can be viewed. Access to the editor is not possible.
In addition, there are other, individual ways in which access can be restricted without having to create a separate guest account for each user. For embedded maps, for example, access can be controlled with an access token. With this option, a map that is integrated in an already protected environment can be accessed without a password. Another option is to connect to an existing SSO system via an interface. As these options require individual customisation, please contact our sales team for a quote.
If you have activated this full access restriction, neither the content nor the map information will be indexed by search engines. This means that a web search will not return a result that leads to your map.
- 2. Additional restrictions
- You can activate the extended restriction "Map can only be accessed embedded". This option is useful if you have embedded the map on an external page and you want to make sure that the map can only be accessed via the URL of the external page. This option causes the URL of the map to only work within an iFrame or div-embed-code.
- 3. Allow embedded domains
- Protect your map from misuse by specifying the external domain on which the embed code is to be embedded. If you enter the domain of this page here, the embedded map will only work on this URL. This means that even if another person tries to include the embed code of the map on another page, the map will no longer work there.
