Add Article
With KontextMaps you can store an article in each of your nodes. This opens in the live map by clicking on the node in a content box. There are different sizes for this box, which you can choose according to the type of content and the length of the text.
Inserting content via the quick toolbar
In the KontextMaps Editor, select the node to which you want to add content. The selection opens the quick toolbar (1). Select the icon for content (2) to insert the main text for this article. Use the text editor to format and design the text. To do this, select one of the tool options in the header of the text editor (3). You can select the size of the content box (4) in which your content is presented in the live map from the drop-down menu at the bottom.
If you would like to enter more information besides the main text, such as marginal information or extended search terms, click on the button for "more options" (5). This opens the content form, which offers further setting options for your article. You can also select this form directly from the toolbar on the left.
After you have inserted and edited your text and content, press the "Save" button.
Inserting content via the content form
The content form is an advanced form that allows you to manage your article and additional information. You open it by clicking the button for "More options" in the quick toolbar or directly via the toolbar on the left side of the editor. In the following, all form fields are described one after the other:
Title: This is the name of the node, which is directly visible on the map. You can change it directly on the node or in this form.
Content box:
Select the size of the content box in which your content should be presented. There are five different boxes available.
All free-standing boxes contain only the main text of your article and the navigation. These boxes are well suited for individual media content or very short texts.
The side boxes, both narrow and larger, contain the node name as a title above the main text. Marginal information is only available in these content boxes.
Direct link:
If you want to link your node on the map, you can use this form field.
Insert the URL to an external website or to a node on your map.
Attention: Direct link and content cannot be used at the same time. This is because either a content box can be opened in the live map or you can be directed to a URL.
Content:
Insert your text or media files in this text editor.
The tool options in the header area of the text editor provide you with tools to format the text or to insert media content. The content form field is for the main text of your article.
Tip: If you set the size of the font or the colour of the text for the content boxes globally, you do not need to make individual adjustments per item. To do this, select the global design settings to store all specifications globally.
Formulas in the text: In the text editor you can enter mathematical formulas in the LateX syntax. To do this, write the LaTeX syntax of your formula between two $ characters:
$c = \pm\sqrt{a^2 + b²}$
will then result in this formula in the live map:
Marginal information 1 and 2
In these two fields, supplementary texts can be entered that should stand out from the main text. The design can be customised in the global design settings. Both fields are automatically separated from the main text by a horizontal line.
Navigation
In this area you can create a path that leads through the nodes of your map. The name of the next or previous node appears at the bottom of the pop-up.
Search terms
Enter additional terms here that are relevant for the search function.
Short description for SEO
At this node you can add a short description for SEO optimisation.
Save
All content in the content form must be saved by clicking the save button.
Open document in new tab
If you want to link a document from the media gallery (e.g. PDF) directly on the map and it should open in a new tab, you have to add the following extension to the end of the URL: ?_target=blank.
This does not apply to content from an external URL. These are automatically opened in a new tab.
